Allergy and Eczema Formula (Expel Wind on Skin)

Cang Zhu – Atractylodes rhizome – Rhizoma Atractylodis
Ku Shen – sophora Root – Radix Sophora Falvescens
Shi Gao – gypsum – Gypsum Fibrosum
Zhi Mu – anemarrhena rhizome – Rhizoma Anemarrhenae
Sheng Di – Chinese foxglove root – Radix Rehmania Glutinosa
Dang Gui – Chinese angelica root – Radix Angelica Sinensis
Gan Cao – licorice root – Radix Glycyrrhiza
Dan Zhu Ye – Lophatherum stem and leaves – Lopthantherum Gracile Herba
Suan Zao Ren – sour jujube date seed – Semen Ziziphus Jujube Spinosa
Niu Bang Zi – great burdick fruit – Fructus Arctium Lappa
Nobody likes to have itchy skin or eyes. It sucks! As parents we hate to see our kids suffer. We also don’t want to pump them full of antihistamines or slather them in steroid creams if we can avoid it too.
Often in children, eczema has an allergic root. Asthma too. They are linked. Their immune systems overreact, causing an inflammatory Heat response; redness, itching and sometimes asthma attacks.
With the formula below not only have I had great success in treating kids allergic eczema and asthma with this, I have also seen children’s allergy symptoms (to dogs and cats) calm down in 10 minutes after a good strong tincture dose.
Can be used for all allergic reactions, from red itch eyes/nose, to eczema, to asthma to bug bites. I find using tincture for kids works better. It’s still tastes bad, but you have to give them less than a decoction/granules:) Tell them it tastes bad, make it a contest, bribe them with a chocolate chip or a spoon of honey afterwards. Do what you need to do get them to take it because it works!
The diagnosis for this is tricky using Organ System language. I had to make something up to fit the pattern I see in my clinic.
Heat disturbing the Wei Qi and Lung. Wind, Damp, Dry and Heat in the skin. Some Heat in the Blood. There is also a little something to calm Shen and nourish Blood.
See, it doesn’t quite flow off the tongue, but you know which patients I’m talking about!
Contraindications
this formula vents the Exterior, clears Heat and mostly reduces Excess. Don’t use for patients whose presentation is not mostly Heat or who are mostly Deficient.
